| This is the first episode of JAM that is missing from the archives. Originally broadcast on Jan 5th, it was repeated the following day - Saturday, 6th January 1968 at 1.10pm - just before Desert Island Discs (which was also a repeat - and is also missing!) If you know about any recording of this episode please let us know! Comment posted 15th March 2013 at 22:18 UTC by admin | |
| This edition features the only appearance by Elisabeth "Liza" Beresford MBE - a British author of children's books, best known for creating The Wombles. Born into a family with many literary connections, she worked as a journalist but struggled for success until she created the Wombles. The strong theme of recycling was particularly notable, and the Wombles became very popular with children across the world. While Beresford produced many other literary works, the Wombles remained her most well known creation. Her first Wombles book was published in September 1968 - 9 months after this episode was broadcast! Audiobooks of the Wombles are available read by Bernard Cribbins, who also appeared in later editions of JAM! Comment posted 23rd August 2013 at 07:39 UTC by admin | |
