| I think... this or the next episode was actually recorded at the Dartmouth Royal Naval College. I worked at The Dart Marina Hotel at the time, and most definitely Nicholas Parsons, Clement Freud, Julian Clary stayed at our hotel. Oddly I don't remember Linda Smith, but there's a vague inkling of Simon Williams (I had Simon Pegg in my head but he's never done JAM has he?). I remember getting the booking from BBC and them then ringing me to tread carefully around Clement Freud as he is a 'difficult character'.......... he brought an ancient bottle of port with him that he handed to me and was having conniptions about keeping it lying at an angle due to the sediment. Then he complained the next morning as the night porter couldn't find a bottle opener (our night porter was a berk). I also remember the faxed booking sheet having a name on that they then said wasn't coming. So maybe it WAS Simon Pegg filling in last minute...? Anyway Nicholas Parsons was charming, of course, and was worried about his wife Anne being unwell. Clary was a bit of a snob. And I've told you about Freud!
