yeah all my RSS feeds stopped working recently and replaced with messages saying they're using BBC Nitro now :(

I guess get_iplayer needs moving to this somehow... or web-scraping.

The main problem is the feeds that allowed get_iPlayer to search what is available are no longer working. This means the Web based PVR is gone and as Tony says you need to search the iPlayer website yourself and extract the programme PIDs.

For example to get this TV programme:

> get_iplayer --get --pid b01bfdcv --modes best

The defaults assume you want TV programmes so Radio programmes need a few more options on the command line as follows.

For example to get this Radio programme:

> get_iplayer>get_iplayer --get --pid b04lsy03 --type radio --aactomp3

Copy and paste into Notepad or similar to build the command and then copy and paste the line into the command line eases the pain considerably.

Hope that helps.

This is only partially true. You can still use it, but you must find the
PID of what you want by hand. You can't use it for scheduling, picking
shows from a list, etc anymore. If you manually go to the BBC schedules on
the web and copy the PID for each individual episode, you can still use it
in a limited way. However, for all practical purposes, it's dead and of not
much use anymore. It seems Auntie finally found a way to crack down on file
sharing sites as the new Nitro API requires registration and presumably can
be a lot more closely monitored. That means that if a new app comes along
similar to our beloved show grabber, Auntie can simply cut off use of the
particular API key and/or not allow registration in the first place.
