Further to my last post on queuing to see JAM live, I just think I need to say that being first in the theatre doesn't necessarily mean getting the best seats at every BBC recording.

I went to see Vic and Bob record House of Fools in Salford last week, and was one of the last to get to the studios, getting a high number sticker.

Sure they loaded the theatre in batches of 100, the lowest numbers first, but they loaded the seats from the back, so there was me last to arrive and sitting dead centre front row when Vic and Bob came out - just 4 feet away from them as they said their hellos to the audience. My eyes were like saucers!

They filmed the episode page by page of the script as it would appear in the broadcast version, except that some of the sight gags camera trickery were prerecorded, and these bits were shown on TVs in the order they occurred. Indeed everything filmed was shown on the overhead TVs so a good view was had by all.

I've been lucky enough to get to the BBC Radio Theatre three times now (all for News Quiz, but never quite lucky enough to get to JaM). First time, we were about #200 (I think) and we got first row in the balcony, which was pretty awesome actually. Better than being back row of the floor anyway. :)

But yeah, some of the last people in have ended up being pulled into the front row on both those occasions, with Sandi Toksvig greeting and encouraging them along as she does her warm up. :)
