Topic: Just a minute on PRI's The World today

Just a Minute got a segment on today's edition of The World.  They once again talked about David Tennant's feat (and inaccurately reported again that he was the first).  It's available on the web:

http://www.pri.org/programs/pris-world/pris-world-02252015

The Just a Minute segment starts at 29:30.

It does indeed start at 18:30.  Sorry about that, folks.  I flipped my time display between Position and Time Remaining modes and typed the wrong figure.

I was in a rush.  :)

I heard that segment as well, and they have a very short window in which to work so it was kept very short and went very quickly. I did mention Nicholas' name and they did say he was 91. However, what really bothered me was that the host was so surprised the show had been running for 47 years -- as if he didn't ever hear about it before. Then again, he probably didn't. I would think someone working in the broadcasting industry would know things like this! Or at least do your homework and listen to one show before doing the interview!

I heard the brief PRI "The World" JAM segment.  It starts at about 18
minutes.  I have a slight nitpick with how James reported the segment.  They
did not say that it was the first time.  The BBC reporter said that "it is
thought to be the first..."  Therefore, perhaps they did read the comments
here or wanted to leave wiggle room in case of inaccurate reporting.
Everything else in the segment seemed factually correct, but I was surprised
and disappointed that Nicholas Parsons did not get mentioned by name and
they did not play the full minute.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but no, Nicholas was not mentioned
by name. They referred to him as "the chairman" and mentioned his age, but
did not say anything else about him. Also, I'm sure the host had never
heard of the show before. Unless you listen to the BBC and know it's still
running, you would not know since it isn't carried here. I only found out
about it by accident and thought it ended around 1980 until I learned
otherwise. Radio shows almost never run for so many years here, so I
understand why he would be surprised.
