Topic: Off topic - get_iplayer

Hi all,

For many years I've used get_iplayer to download BBC radio programmes.

It stopped working last autumn.

I've tried to re-install and use iplayerconverter.co.uk but without success.

I use both Ubuntu and Windows.

Has anyone got a working version of get_iplayer or an alternative means of downloading BBC radio?

Any advice or help will be appreciate.

David

Have you tried the Old Harrys Game Messageboard?  Every time that Get iPlayer stops working, this messageboard comes alive with queries like yours, followed by advice on how to overcome or work around the problem. If you visit http://www.temples.me.uk/harry/ and look through the posts made in the last couple of months, you will probably find a solution.

Good luck

Golux

From another group, thanks to Allan

Get_iplayer users

In case you haven't found it yet, the get_iplayer program has recently been upgraded to v2.91.

If you run the get_iplayer_setup_latest.exe  file from the squarepenguin distribution site on your computer it should upgrade the get_iplayer installation on your computer to v2.91 and this appears to restore radio 4 extra download  (at least on the files I have tried so far).

I found nothing would download after Friday 27th Feb night from BBC-R4E using get_iplayer v2.90,  and  I tried almost everything else I could think of before checking the update.

I suspect that the Beeb have updated their wrappers.  The developers notes seem to indicate they were aware of a pending format change and prepared for it on and after 22nd Feb (when the developers blog on this "enhancement issue" went "private").  It looks like the format change occurred on everything broadcast by R4E after the 1st March and the hiccup in the program availability on the iplayer website was because they had changed format over the weekend.

Anyway, just update to v2.91 and it should just work like magic again.
