the first shows recorded for the new season featured the interesting combination of Paul Merton, Sheila Hancock, Pam Ayres and Mike McShane.

I think there are more shows being recorded this evening so if I get more info I'll post it.

There have been some great panels already this year, and now with Paul, Sheila and Pam together JAM looks to be aiming for another series of favorites this Summer!

Having said that, I have to say I find it odd that JAM on occasion will pluck a player who had been on the show several years past that made no real impression and throw them back into the mix - Robin Ince being one and now Mike McShane, who hasn't been on the show in quite some time. I've warmed to (accepted, anyway) the idea of inserting new talent to go along with the wonderful established players, but there have been many new players in the past 2 years whom I'd rather hear than ones who were tried several years back and not heard from again until now.

my friend Keith posted that the panel was to have included Marcus Brigstocke, so I am wondering if Mike McShane may have been a last minute replacement for Marcus for whatever reason.

I think if Mike finds his feet on JAM he could be quite good at it. I was a huge fan of him on Whose Line Is It Anyway back in the 90s

Oh, guys, I cannot stand Mike McShane's earlier JAM performances. He just sounds so uncomfortable.

He is touring UK with Paul Merton from April. I had to think twice before booking my ticket -

Paul Merton, one of the UK's best-loved performers, and his world renowned Impro Chums: Mike McShane, Lee Simpson, Richard Vranch and Suki Webster will create a new and unique comedy show, based entirely on suggestions from the audience, their own finely honed improvisational skills and an almost manic compulsion to show off. Special guests may also be joining them including: Niall Ashdown, Andy Smart and Steve Steen*
