The BBC Programme Catalogue has lots of info on JAM. Nothing amazing, but includes the date of recordings and a code (such as XT 54589). Its no where near complete but I thought it was quite interesting.

And it's nowhere near accurate either. Just as one example look at
the first couple of episodes in the recently broadcast series. You
and I know that was Series 53 however the BBC only think it is series
50???

Well maybe officially it is series 50 - I think Dean has suggested before official episode numbering is lower than his.

Well the numbering system I use was invented by me.

Nevertheless it wasn't a very inventive system - I called the first
series series one, the second series two and so on. If they have 50,
they've combined two series in the same year into one three times - but
if they have done that, they haven't been very consistent in applying
that rule.

Is it a list of recordings still extant, I wonder? If so there is one
show (ep 5) that is among the 14 completely missing eps.

I would agree that the BBC Programme Catalogue is a listing of
programmes that are still extant in the BBC archive, based on my
other passion in radio comedy - The Clitheroe Kid. The BBC only hold
13 episodes of this show in their archive although there are a
further 14 episodes held by BBC Worldwide. In total there were
around 290 episodes recorded of which approx 135 have been found. If
anyone knows of any...please let me know !! Sorry to wander off
topic just qualifying my answer !

If that's the case we still have some hopes of adding to the list then!

no kidding, considering that I think it was Peter Jones who once stated that even he was unsure over the which series they were doing by the time of the next anniversary in the new millennium.

And I would disagree... :-)

I can give you an example of why - if you look up the Peter Jones
series 'J. Kingston Platt's Showbiz Handbook' you will find details of
the 10 episodes of the first series. Recently BBC7 broadcast the
series missing out episode 4. When enquiries were made on the BBC7
forum a BBC7 host told us that the internal (and more accurate) version
of Infax they have access to shows it no longer exists and also gives
the date that the tape was wiped.

I must admit that looking up a few other programmes it does seem a
bit hit and miss. Wouldn't you just love to go and physically mooch
around those archives and see what is really there ? !!!
