The Just A Minute app, being promoted by the Messiter family, has just been released.


It can be downloaded here -


 Just a Minute


I am not an app user so I'm interested to hear what people think - is this a must? Something I should be using? Let me know!

According to the app's website (justaminuteapp.com), this app allows you to be a player in a game of Just a Minute. 'Play with up to 4 friends on one iPad, or up to 6 using multiple devices. In-app purchasing offers vast numbers of real BBC subjects.' There is a video of people playing the app at justaminuteapp.com/vid.

So the app just acts as a stopwatch and buzzer and provides the topics?

It would be better if it also dispensed arbitrary or random judgements - just like the real NP.

hahaha yes that would make the app more realistic!

 

I still don’t understand why in the round (English sparkling wine) in episode 1 of this season (72), when PM said “bubble upon bubbles” and LT challenged, NP gave her the subject despite the fact that the three of them, especially NP, recognised that the second word was in the plural.

 

Do you think I should let go? Smile

Well, its deviation from the normal use of English. We say we walked for mile upon mile. We do not say we walked for mile upon miles. Paul therefore used an underhand trick to get a point and Nic made sure that he lost the subject.

In the demonstration video on the website, Malcolm Messiter does mention that future enhancements could include the app actually recording the rounds and therefore it WOULD be possible to automatically judge whether a hesitation or repetition actually occurred. Not sure it could ever decide on deviation - but then I like the idea of random arbitrary decisions being made to match Nicholas' chairmanship!
