On this occasion Martin deserves 100 percent of the credit - his new
versions have nothing to do with me.
As to your general comments on the shows themselves - I agree. I
think I wrote on my website that they are really only of historical
interest.
What a difference Kenny made to the show. He was of course a cult, an
enormous cult... and the spun gold hair helped as well.

Thanks for these.
Having the better quality doesn't make these 'easier' to listen to. As
mentioned on David's website these are almost more historical
interest. A few comments come to mind
everyone is so serious, there is little sense of fun. The chemistry
which was to develop isn't there yet
the rules are evolving - Nick allows some repetitions (eg over and
over or of people's names) yet there are some obvious ones that people
miss.
you can't repeat the subject
the rounds with the words you can't say are frustrating.
In some ways it is a surprise, but thank goodness, that the show was
allowed to keep going.
It is rather than a good writer's juvenilia - the serious student
finds it interesting, but you wouldn't send someone to them to get
hooked on the show!
