Clement's joke

I've just been listening in frustration to JAM #104 (Sensible Winter Underwear) to Clement's joke about the man who goes into the chemist to buy a toothbrush. When Clement realised it was unsuitable for broadcast, he started dragging it out so he'd not not have to reach the punchline before the whistle.

I can't find any reference on the web to a joke about toothbrushes and alligators - does anyone know what the punchline is?
