Sounds as though the security settings on your browser are getting in the way. Try a different browser. I am on a Mac and I use Chrome to enter the site with no problems. I can’t access it at all using Safari.
Try Chrome first, then Firefox.

Well I can see, read, and understand written and aural instructions, know the two surnames & the 4-digit number required, and can differentiate between lower and upper case letters and yet still can't access the site.

It tells me that authentication is required, and my connection to this site is not private. Having entered the appropriate username & password, after a momentary display of a Surpass Hosting screen it reverts to the login screen.

Perhaps there's a setting somewhere that needs altering in my PC, but I don't know what it is.

I just tested the Jar again and I could get in. It could be a configuration issue at your end.

What OS and browser are you using?
Are you using any exotic security software or browser plugins?

I can vouch for never having had a problem logging into the Jam Jar.  (And in fact, feel guilty about the amount that I use it as Mark is so reliable that I tend to download his files rather than acquiring them myself, elsewhere).

Anyway, I just tried again and confirm it is still working for me.

If it’s any help, the Jar works fine for me, using Safari browser on a Mac.

And I’ll take this opportunity to say thanks again for Mark’s website and all his efforts.

Cheers,

Matt

Many thanks to Mark, Gareth, James & Matt for various suggestions. After switching off various Chrome extensions without success, my ISP's security system F-Secure was stopping access. Disabling it to gain access & then switching it back on later did the trick.

You might be able to whitelist nylon.net within F-Secure to prevent having to enable/disable your scanner all the time.
