Actually, Dave, we were referring to a discussion programme called Petticoat LINE, not to be confused with the comedy show called Petticoat LANE, which starred Elsie & Doris Waters, Max Wall, Micheal Howard, Benny Hill and Peter Sellers and ran for almost six months (23 weeks) on the home service in 1949.

In fact, I found another Ian Messiter classic, "Right or Wrong?", while browsing through the Radio Times database which goes on to mention three other shows of his:

The game in which it's better to be wrong than right

with Jon Pertwee, John Cleese, Barbara Kelly, Andrée Melly,

Two other programmes of his, Petticoat Line and Just a Minute, return in the autumn.
