One further JAM database item.

As you all know, in a relational database first normal form forbids the use of repeating fields (such as Guest1, guest2, guest3, guest4).

To alleviate that - for those of you who even know what I'm talking about (e.g. cleverboots at http://tvrdb.com/jam) - here's a separate table for players in each episode. It should fit neatly into a 3NF schema...

Naturally, one would want to create key field IDs for the players at some stage, but so far no duplication of natural names has occurred so it's not likely to be an issue using it as a key field in the near future.

O, what the hell. Also attached is the whole bunch as a flatfile XLSX that you can play with - or just look at.

As a tantalising bonus, if you visit the 'People' sheet you can see the COUNTIF calculation in the SHOWS column that counts the number of appearances of each guest.

According to the data, this is the top 10...

I didn't realise Tony Hawks had been on so often!

Have fun!
If you don't have fun, it never happened and I was never here.

Thanks again to Dean whose page at http://just-a-minute.info/eps.html was the source of every gram of this datalicious goodness.

I don't know why, but today I compiled a list of every JAM player up until the end of Dean's list at http://just-a-minute.info/eps.html.

In all JAM history there have been 197 unique players of the game.

I don't know if Yahoo allows attachments, but I'll try it.

For those of you who love to fiddle with relational databases, here's a CSV file of all JAM players to date.

As usual, thanks to Dean for all the yummy raw data.

Enjoy.
