I'm not sure whether this is immoral, illegal, fattening or just naughty, but I found that Audible (Amazon's online music provider) offers two free downloads for new customers.
So one could (as I did) sign up for the free offer and download (say) 'Just a classic minute: 40th anniversary' and 'Just a minute Silver minutes' (a total of about 10 jammy listening hours) and - if you were not delighted with Audible - cancel the account within a month and pay nothing.
At least that's how it seems to work. So, I'm trying out this theory.

And speaking of Illegal Immoral & Fattening, will the jamjar be benefiting from the newly available recordings?
Nice to hear of Flo & Eddie after all these years, I still know most of their Tibetan Memory Trick by heart.
Unless things have changed, the audio quality on Audible isn't even close to CD quality. I've purchased things there in the past.
Plus they tend to be DRM restricted files.

The Audible Report
I downloaded 'Silver Minutes' (2 hours in 4 parts) and 'Classic 40th' (8 hours in 11 full episodes, with intros by Nic).
The thing I didn't realise about Audible was that the only way to hear the downloads is to download and use their app. You can't get at the actual audio files. That meant I had to accidentally play 10 hours of JAM (while I slept) while i-Sound7 recorded the audio output.
The Silver Minutes episodes were a distinctly improved version of the ones we have. They were worthwhile.
The 'Classic 40th' episodes were a big disappointment. Most, if not all, were muffled or tinny and some of my old 6MB copies were clearer and cleaner copies! A couple had also been released on other BBC CDs, and the those from the other CDs were of far better sound quality.
The only benefit was getting Nic's introductions to the episodes, but I think they were all lifted from other BBC CD releases. In one intro he says 'this brings the classic collection to a close' but 2 more episodes followed!
I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this download - only 3 of the 11 episodes were just maybe barely better than my previous copies. I threw most of them out.
I cancelled my Audible account.

That more or less matches my experience with Audible. I'm surprised that the Silver Minutes episodes are an upgrade, though. I'll consider grabbing those myself (but I have already used my Audible trial so I'd have to pay).
I'm still waiting for my Classic Quartet and Further Classic Collection -- strange that they reach you considerably before they reach me here in the US! Thanks for cataloguing the episodes there. My wife and I just had a baby, so my time to spend on these sorts of endeavours isn't what it once was!
