Topic: The new Jam Jar

I have updated the jar-opening instructions at b9fx.com.

I will continue putting the current series into the old and new jars, but next season will be only in the MegaJar.

Those of you with operating systems that are currently incompatible with Mega's security might need to update pretty soon.

Regards
Mark

Thanks for all of your hard work
I went to the mega site and was able to access the files quite easily.

I have a (humble) suggestion and a question:

(Humble) suggestion - Do you think it may be easier to navigate to a specific file if the long list of files was split into more manageable folders?

Question - How do you find upload speeds with mega?  I have been using onedrive and dropbox for personal stuff and was interested how they compare with mega.

David

Hi David,
Yes, one could divide files into folders, but by which plan? By series, year, decade? Each has its pros and cons depending on one's needs. What did you have in mind?

Re. Upload speeds, when I first tried Mega about a year ago it was hopelessly slow. Now it's quite fast and responsive ... Even on a free plan.

Regards
Mark

As soon as I made my post, I had the same question as you.  My first thought was by series but that may be more work.  Then I thought of folders named by series AND date - and I thought that would be even more work.  Then I got a bit of a headache.

After checking out your site I opened a free mega account to give it a try.  I am currently getting upload speeds of about 60 kb/s which is not too bad.  Just drag and drop the files and then go and make a cup of tea.

Thanks for your work

David

Yes. The problem with sorting into subfolders is that detail is made less accessible. E.g. If you have 74 folders for series, you need to enter 74 folders individually to check for dupes. I'm hoping to make the Megajar as zero-maintenance as possible.

What do you other Jammers think? Subfolders? If so, what hierarchy?
How will most people access downloads, or search for content?

Or one could use an era-based scheme such as:
The early years
The gang of four
After Kenny
After derek
Etc

Hi Mark!

I'm having trouble logging in to the new jam jar even though I know I'm entering everything correctly. Can you assist in any way?

Lou
