I know that a number of us download our BBC shows using get_iplayer

There has been a new version released

get_iplayer v2.95 released | get_iPlayer • Forums • Guides • Help

We have discussed before the bitrate at which shows are recorded.

The new version of get_iplayer has an interesting feature mentioned in the release notes:

https://github.com/get-iplayer/get_iplayer/wiki/release295

Quality levels ("worst", "worse", "good", "better", "best") are now utilised in recording mode shortcuts for radio programmes as well as TV programmes. Previously, the highest-quality radio stream was downloaded regardless of level specified. This means you should specify--tvmode and --radiomode separately if you wish to use different quality levels.

What this means is that it gives you the option of what quality you want to download.

I am still playing with the features so I am not an expert.

Also I am finding the download rate a little slower

However, I thought some folks here might find this interesting

Yours

David
