Topic: question for Nicholas?

Message 1 / 20
Dean BedfordOct 21, 2017

Among the 50th anniversary material, the BBC is doing a programme which will celebrate Nicholas Parsons. He will be interviewed and I've been invited to pose a question.

So I am crowd-sourcing this - what question would you ask Nicholas? Or would you like me to ask him?

Post away and I'll try to pick a winner

cheers, Dean

My question for Nicholas Parsons would be:

How did he land his role in Dr Who and how would he feel about playing a role in the modern version of Dr Who?

All the best

Hi Dean, hope you're well.

The questions I would like to ask if I met him are:

1. "Why do you so rarely thank the radio listeners, who are the one of the key factors for keeping the programme going?" This may be vetoed on grounds of being embarrassing for him.

2. "What's happened to Kit Hesketh-Harvey? He was always good fun, but hasn't been on for some years."

3. "Do you have any say as to who should or should not, be a panelist?"

I'm sure I have more, and will post if/when I remember them.

All the best,

Steve

Maybe it's just me, but I've never felt a strong desire to be thanked for listening to a radio programme.

I have no great desire to be thanked except that the listeners are omitted from being thanked at the end when everybody else has been, the audience, the panel, Ian Messiter, the producer, the whistle blower, the venue, everybody except those who provide the ratings which keep the boat afloat.

AND, on another point, when he welcomes the listeners, "not only/just in this country, but around the world", why has nobody pointed out that the word "also" should go between the words, "but" and "around"?

thanks for questions so far from Steve and David.

Nick has said in the past that he doesn't have any input on panellists.

It is hard to think up a really good question he hasn't answered - he has written and said so much on JAM.

How about: How does Nicholas see the future of JAM, and, if he had to pick one, who would he nominate as his successor in the chair after he retires?

The second part is what intrigues me most. The question perhaps can benefit from rewording but you get the gist.

OK. Here's a tricky one:

- Who is/was Nicholas' favourite player?

(I'd rather know who his least favourite player was, but he'd never answer that in public!)

thanks for questions so far from Steve and David.

Nick has said in the past that he doesn't have any input on panellists.

It is hard to think up a really good question he hasn't answered - he has written and said so much on JAM.

I have no great desire to be thanked except that the listeners are omitted from being thanked at the end when everybody else has been, the audience, the panel, Ian Messiter, the producer, the whistle blower, the venue, everybody except those who provide the ratings which keep the boat afloat.

AND, on another point, when he welcomes the listeners, "not only/just in this country, but around the world", why has nobody pointed out that the word "also" should go between the words, "but" and "around"?

it's November 25th to be precise but if I say you all have a month to think about it, that would pretty much guarantee no answers at all!

Another one - what is the funniest moment you remember in the show in the past 50 years?

I have another question.

Having worked with so many comedians over the years, does he think that misery loves comedy?

The idea comes from the documentary "Misery Loves Comedy"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3132632/

Also, JAM has had some 'tortured' souls appearing on the show over the years. So I was wondering what his thoughts were about on the subject

Yours
David

Ok, here comes my best question.

"What would be your fantasy panel picked from all those who for one reason or another did not, or could not appear on the show?"

I.e. Max Miller, Dorothy Parker, W.C.Fields, Oscar Wilde, John Lennon etc.
