To the best of my knowledge, Denis Norden has been retired from showbusiness for some years, and so would not now accept an invitation to appear on the show.

There was (several years ago, in fact) a handing-over of his long running tv series on ITV, "It'll Be All Right On The Night", to a younger presenter -- Griff Rhys-Jones. That was at least 8 years ago, and marked Denis's retirement.

I also think it unlikely that Frank Muir would accept such an invitation, mainly for the reasons you mention.

I often wondered why the inestimable Frank Muir never appeared on JAM. Sadly, he is not likely to do so, especially considering his death in 1998.

But Denis Norden, his life-long colleague and co-writer is still kicking at the age of 96, just 2 years senior to our chairman.

It would be so great to have Denis on JAM.
