I am always interested to read your posts, Dean, especially as JAM is fast approaching yet another milestone - episode 1000.
Personally, I've always discounted "Silver Minutes" (1992) as being a proper show, even though it included some specially recorded material, as it went out late at night (over 2 weeks) under a different title. Therefore I would also exclude Paul's "Edinburgh Masterclass" (2014), "50 Years of Just a Minute" (2018) and "50 Years in 28 Minutes" (2018). Of course, YMMV...
My episode count to date is 925 Radio 4 episodes plus 28 Carlton TV, 20 BBC1, 10 BBC2 and 12 JJAM making a total of 995 games so episode 1000 will be in 5 weeks time! If you include the above 5 specials then we've already hit 1000. Of course, Nicholas missed 2 shows, but he also recorded two TV pilots that were never broadcast so he will still have participated in 1000 recordings of the show and by the time Series 83 finishes in March he will have appeared in 1000 broadcasts of the game, chairing all but 11 of them. A remarkable achievement...
Your original Geocities site would only have listed 500 of these so that's a hell of a lot of updates you've added to it over the years! With so much info on your site the only way to keep it up to date now would be to use a backend database. If you need help importing the data and creating something more manageable let us know...

Thought I ought in fairness to point out that -
a. In the beginning, *all* the shows were recorded at the BBC's Paris studio
in Lower Regent Street. There was no touring whatsoever during the first 25
years. Yet the show was wildly popular. Its success had nothing to do with
holding recordings outside London, clearly, because no recordings were done
outside London in those days.
b. Kenneth's death is what changed the show.
When Paul replaced him, it more or less went on with 4 new regulars, and was
a very similar show, i.e. one which was still based on the regulars -- until
Derek and Peter both passed away in close proximity, at the turn of the
century.
Yes, it has lost something by having 4 different players every week. There
is no sense of continuity now. Except Nicholas.
It would certainly benefit from emulating 'Clue', i.e. having the same
panellists all the time. But there are no modern players who can do it as
well as the old team. Paul can, but who would you want to have on the show
with him every week? Suggestions on a postcard please!

This idea came from me, so I feel sort of compelled to reply.
I would quite like to see Gyles Brandreth alongside Paul Merton, as the core
of a new team. Paul is I think universally popular, and Gyles has some of
the virtues of the original foursome, in terms of his intellectual abilitity
to talk on many subjects (he also fulfills Clement's role as a Member of
Parliament). Paul of course fulfills the need to have someone from show
business on the team (the role which Derek Nimmo, Peter Jones and Kenny
Williams had in common).
Julian Clary fulfills somewhat of the 'gay blade' role which Kenny Williams
had. I would not object to him as a permanent fixture. He has the outrageous
element which Kenny provided. But he also has the same unthreatening
personality that Kenny had.
I do not think that I could come up with an obvious fourth choice. But it
ought to be a man. Having a female panellist would unbalance the team,
because she would be in a permanent minority -- the situation which led
Wendy Richard to become defensive and hostile. And which allegedly caused
Nyree Dawn-Porter to break down in tears and flee the studio.
(I have to repeat a previous comment I made: I actually knew Wendy slightly,
I had met her in private life, and she was not at all like she came across
in the show. She was much more relaxed "off", and really very nice. I think
she was not intellectually equipped to play the game like Derek, Clement and
Kenneth did, and she was aware of it, and she over-compensated.)
You would not need to have all 4 regulars in the show every week, but it
would be understood that there was a regular quartet around whom guests
could be featured.
