Wow! It's hard to believe there is anyone in the western world who hasn't heard of, or seen, Piers Morgan!!!
Piers is a journalist, hired by Rupert Murdoch as editor of The Sun newspaper (1988-1994), The News of the World (1995) and finally The Daily Mirror (1996-2004) before he was unceremoniously sacked after publishing photos of British soldiers allegedly torturing Iragi prisoners.
By this time he had already starting presenting shows on TV in the UK and was taken on by Simon Cowell as one of the controversial judges for his new show, America's Got Talent in 2006, (alongside David Hasselhoff and Brandy Norwood). He was also one of the 3 judges on Britain's Got Talent (alongside Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden) when that started in 2007.
He won Series 7 of The Apprentice (US) - the first "Celebrity Apprentice" series broadcast in 2008 with Donald Trump as the boss, so he can actually claim to have been hired by the President!
After being a "talent" judge for 5 years on both sides of the Atlantic, and hosting a successful UK chat show on ITV, entitled "Piers Morgan Life Stories" where he interviews celebrities (2009-present), he was offered the prestigious job of replacing Larry King, who was retiring after 25 years of presenting his flagship CNN US show, Larry King Live, in 2011.
Piers Morgan Live lasted just a few years before it was cancelled in 2014, after which Piers returned to the UK to present breakfast television on ITV.. He's highly critical of the BBC but has nevertheless appeared as a guest on many BBC shows, including those on Radio 4.
A very tenuous link to bring us back on topic to JAM...
