Topic: JAM cassettes!

Message 1 / 3
MarkSep 12, 2019

OK guys and guyettes.

This could be big.

I spent a couple of years digitising several hundred cassettes of 'The Archers' for a fellow collector.

Now it turns out, he also has heaps of JAM cassettes.

I'm not brave enough to claim they might contain missing episodes, but they could very well offer upgrades to some of the episodes we have.

His episode list follows. If we all had a rummage through the list, we might uncover gold.

I am going to see if I can get the cassettes and digitise them.

Good luck

Mark

It certainly looks like an interesting collection, Mark!

Presumably, based on your location, these were all recorded outside of the UK and will most likely be "transcription services" edits. As we found out with the World Service archive there are often multiple editions for some episodes with rounds dropped or added, so it's definitely worth doing a comparison of each recording with the commonly available version.

Looking forward to hearing more updates...

This is fantastic news, although since having a kid I lack the kind of free time I had when I was doing side by side analysis with the World Service recordings.

...

Which is probably for the best as I drove at least one member away with those incredibly detailed posts.
