challenging yourself and Nick's errors

was listening to jeremy Beadle's episode Early Morning Exercises.
Noticed a couple of things

a) Jeremy Beadle challenged himself - this was May 83 - and was
thinking that a good challenge might be 'who was the first person to
challenge themselves'. Jeremy then challenged himself again in the
same round and Nick gave everybody else a point.

b) how often does the subject pass to the wrong person? I noted that
it happened in the most recent game, but also here

NP: Clement Freud challenged.
CF: You all know, you all know.
NP: Yes that's right, well done Kenneth.
AM: I do repeat myself a lot, don't I.
NP: And you have um, ah 16 seconds on Hyperion, Kenneth starting now.
KW: Well he gave birth to Sellini and then he also...

I don't think this is an edit as Aimee had 20 seconds when she
started off and only got a few words out.

It just surprises me in a game where the objective is to listen and
most of them are competitive that this would get past them. Obviously
it is easier to play at home (in this game Jeremy
repeated 'syllables' and was picked up. I do think that Nick often
catches more than the players.
