for the Stephen Fry fans, but amusing in its own right, I think... from
the Chortle website

Stephen Fry has lent his voice to a talking alarm clock, which eases you
into the morning like a perfect with such soothing wake-up calls as:
'I'm so sorry to disturb you, sir, but it appears to be morning. Very
inconvenient, I agree, sir. I believe it is the rotation of the earth
which is to blame, sir.' Listen to more samples, and order, at
www.voco.uk.com

Wasn't there someone here who said they wanted to wake up with Stephen
Fry? :-)

Nice find, Dean! I may have to buy this as a birthday gift for someone.

Yes, we Stephen Fry fans squeed loudly over that clock, but as most of us are females lamenting the fact that he plays exclusively for the other team, it was a little off-putting that all of the Voco messages addressed the sleeper as "Sir". A gay male in our circle, however, didn't hesitate to buy the clock and transcribe all of its messages:

Hah! I was just about to put in an obligatory disclaimer saying that people (like me and he) who obsessively transcribe are just big fans, not complete loonies . . . then I looked down and remembered whom I was talking to. My goodness, if anyone could sympathize . . . !

I do think this is very funny. It is almost worth buying for novelty
value - I speak as someone who every second week has to wake up at 4am
so maybe Stephen's voice would be a kind way to awaken.

I do already often go to sleep with JAM playing - I just find it puts me
in a relaxed mood to hear Kenneth Williams screaming "how dare you
interrupt me! I'm a cult!" :) So maybe JAM to sleep, Fry to wake!

It's really a fantastic idea. The manufacturer does admit already to
some flaws in its design, so maybe I'll wait until the updated version.
My alarm clock is my cell phone, which plays the QI ringtone, so I'm
almost being awoken by Stephen Fry in the mornings.

I can't go to sleep listening to JAM because I always either listen so
attentively that I can't sleep for all the verbosity and hilarity, or I
start drifting off with my brain in a state of semi-anxiety, thinking,
"I'm missing something! What did I just miss?" Of course, you've been
listening to them longer than I have, so you'd naturally have less of a
necessity to catch every single word. Now, me going to sleep listening
to Stephen Fry read the Harry Potter audio books (the text to which I
have perused about 50 times each, and that's one instance where there is
no hyperbole intended) . . . that's a good idea! I should start
doing that!

And I thought I was the only one who listens to JAM at bedtime. :) As
for the Stephen Fry clock, I love the idea. Waking up to the dulcet
tones of Mr. Fry. :) How wonderful is that? :)
