According to a poster at my blog, the participants for the Edinburgh
shows were

show one - Sir Clement Freud, Paul Merton, Fred MacAulay and Jo
Caulfield.

show two - Clement, Paul, Marcus Brigstocke and Janey Godley.

Good to have Fred back again! And first appearance by Jo - the sort of
comedian who should do very very well.

Jo Caufield, never heard of her.  but can't wait to hear how she does.  and I'm so glad that Fred is coming back, and Janey as well, nice to know she's being given a second shot.

well if that's right, the poster on my blog is wrong.

We'll know half the answer in the next 24 hours!

Well the continuity announcer at the end of tonights show confirmed
the guests for next week and the poster on your Blog is 100%
correct. However, if you look at the BBC Edinburgh Fringe webpage
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/comedy/edinburgh2007.shtml on the Just A
Minute entry you will see the following:-

====================================================================
"Nicholas Parsons chairs the devious panel game from the Pleasance
Theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Among others joining him
are Paul Merton, Clement Freud and Frank Skinner.

Broadcast: 6.30 - 7.00 pm, 20 and 27 August 2007"
=====================================================================

It doesn't suprise me, the BBC doesn't seem to have a clue half the
time... :)

Thought poor old Jo didn't really get much of a chance to get into
things, which was a shame. They did seem to be quite kind to her when
she did manage to get the subject though; well, aside from Fred giving
it and then forgetting and taking it back by accident!

I thought Merton's perfectly timed "Toast" remark was the best bit of
the episode.

Just speaking of Edinburgh, I saw Nicholas's "Happy Hour" show on
Sunday, the last of the season. He was sharp and very delightful, and
of course made sure to put on his Glaswegian accent before dropping
the f-bomb. I got to meet him afterwards and he was very kind; I got
the obligatory "whoa!American" question and he added a sweet note in
my journal, after which I asked if he would mind if I kissed him. (I
think you can guess that he didn't.) Glad I got to see him this year,
since I got to the UK two days after the JAM recordings and was rather
crushed about that.

Everyone who meets Nicholas mentions how nice he is, and how much he
likes talking to the fans.

He's arranged tickets for me to see the recording in a couple of weeks
so I'm grateful to him too!

Just incidentally, what is the obligatory "whoa American" question?

Oh, that's absolutely fabulous. I know you'll have a wonderful time!

The obligatory whoa!American question comes after I start speaking to
someone, just after the blink of "I didn't expect that accent", and
exhibits itself as a polite question as to where I'm from. I usually
tell them "Florida", as I think the accent itself narrows the country
down (although many people seem to be genuinely surprised that
Americans travel and instead automatically think I must be Canadian).

I have to say that the funniest whoa!American question I've gotten
came from Jimmy Carr; I can't quite remember the exact phrasing, but
it came out something like, "And whereabouts comes that accent you
have?", which made it sound as though (1) my accent was independent of
the rest of my being, and (2) it was so unheard-of that I must come
from Bali or something.
