Someone that definitely should get a mention in the 'Brief But
Memorable' category is Victoria Wood.
she made three appearances in the 1980's, and each one was a
classic. she was very plummy and delightful, she was quite good at
the game in picking up transgressions of the rules, as well as
playing for laughs, and she had plenty to say when she got the
subject, and with that wonderful accent of her's, which came all the
way from Morcamb (sp?).
in fact what was interesting was that in her very first appearance
there was a problem to which she barely arrived in time to even
appear, which became a great running joke throughout that episode.
she was jolly fun, and definitely wasn't one to be harassed by
Kenneth, in fact I believe during her last appearance one incredible
argument broke out during Kenneth's discussion on the subject
of 'Honey' to which he was talking about bees, and Victoria kept on
insisting he was deviating, and Kenneth didn't seem to understand the
point that the subject is supposed to be 'honey' and not 'bees' and a
wonderful response from Kenneth came in the form of 'Well, they make
blooming honey!'
I'm not sure for what Victoria is well known for as an actress or a
comedianne, but I'm assuming that she was married at the time to an
illusionist of some reknown, due to the fact that she was given the
subject in one episode 'The Last Time My Husband Sawed Me In Half'.
She was a very welcome presence on the show, even if it was only for
three episodes.
anyone else wish to share their thoughts on this lovely woman?
