If you can, pick out one of your favourite editions, charge your glass,
and toast David Hatch, Ian Messiter, Nicholas Parsons, Clement Freud and
Derek Nimmo who 40 yaers ago were nervously wondering how the first show
would be received.

-Here's to the Many Many Minutes spent listening/laughing to
JAM.Thanks to all those who worked/produced/performed on JAM over the
yrs. ( bless the late David Hatch for Not giving up!)

I discovered this show by accident in 97 ( local radio running
the BBC World Service overnight) I was already Long Time Addicted
Anglophile and a Paul Merton fan ( via our local Brit Tv/video
watching group) and became an overnight Raving Fan.
I work in a kitchen and I bring my JAM tapes to listen to while I
chop my veggies and make salads-it keeps me amused during the more
mundane part of my job. My coworkers are now used to my quiet giggles
and when I have to LOL- usually at my hero Paul Merton.
*** And I want to thank Dean for all his hard work over the yrs on
his sites! (And Deans's help in the past- you helped get me a video
of the Arena JAM special a few yrs back after I Begged on the BBC
message board :) Cheers Miriam in Seattle

I second that! Thanks to everyone who has contributed files to this
site! I'm making my way through the list, having only discovered it a
year ago. But it's timeless isn't it...the simplicity of the game (in
theory anyway, I'm pretty sure I'd be useless playing!) is its strong
point.

A toast to the originals, and to all players who have made me smile
and laugh out loud like a fool whilst sat on the bus - attracted some
stares in the process.

Also a special mention to those who aren't there to celebrate the
40th Anniversary....Kenneth Williams, Derek Nimmo, Peter Jones, Linda
Smith, Peter Cook to name but a few.

PS: Miriam - Paul Merton is my hero too! Good choice!

it's just amazing to think just how long this series has entertained people over the years, and even now still manages to convert new listeners.

I remember stumbling onto this series through the website dedicated to coverage of the series 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' both the UK and US versions.

I caught on to this show rather quickly, and even as I've listened to the episodes over the years several times, I always manage to rediscover episodes that are absolutely and thoroughly excellent in terms of entertainment value.

and the journey from the 60's to today has been a joyful one, witnessing the show's evolution even as people we know and love have come and gone.

I've created CDs that I have listened to in my car to help pass the time as I drive from one place to another, and its always a great way to pass the time listening to these wonderful people speak on various subjects as well as argue with each other and the chairman, and make the audience roar with laughter.

its also helped me to gain a greater appreciation for the audio format, considering that sometimes it can be a lot more satisfying and stimulating to the imagination than anything created on television or in the movies.

I hope the series continues for many more years, it is simply one of those things that you just can't picture not having around.  especially when you consider the incredible talent that
