I loved it.

Lots of great bits, even a couple I didn't remember hearing before! A
good mix of the old and the new. I also liked the new bits of people
talking about the show. Paul, Graham, Julian, Chris Neill and of course
Nicholas were all great though I didn't quite get Gyles and whether he
was trying to make a joke or was actually telling a true tale.

Lovely to hear Linda Smith in great form again. We still miss her.

I would have liked a bit of Aimi Macdonald in there somewhere - but who
could complain too much. Carol Smith and Tilusha Ghelani - take a bow.

And next week we get back Nicholas, Clement, Paul, Chris, and of course
Josie Lawrence. Something to look forward to!

I can't wait to transcribe it now! (Though I still have a few from last
season to do, thanks Martin for sending me last season.)

For those interested the blog has a blow-by-blow account of the special.

certainly was an interesting special, although I probably would've preferred something similar to the 35th anniversary special.  it was good to hear some classic clips of some very funny bits, and it was nice listening to Nicholas giving great compliments about the show,  it was also nice to hear him give great praise to those individuals who truly deserve the credit for the continue success of the series... the panelists.

also nice to hear some great comments from the more recent panelists like Paul and Graham, and Julian.

I also love the bit where Clement starts off on the subject of 'Why I love Just a Minute' by stating that he prefers 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue', that's brilliant.

It was certainly a very enjoyable episode! I agree with almost everything you've said there. It reminded me why I loved Linda Smith on the show so much!

Are we numbering this as series 55 episode 1? I noticed after the show the announcer said next week Nicholas would be back with a new series.

I've uploaded the episode here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/just-a-minute/links/_Just_a_Minute__Epis_001169532486/Greg_s__New__Episode_001184693184/

yes, I've noted it as 683/55/1

http://www.geocities.com/deanbedford/jam55.html

as you noted a couple of weeks ago, the Radio Times is calling this show
the first of 12 shows and that equates to the official website which
said the new season started yesterday. I think it makes sense to put
this at the start of the current season rather than separate it out. The
Silver Minutes was broadcast months away from the other shows of that
year, and was two hours ion length, so that was a bit different.

Hi

Gregory - thanks for uploading it so quickly

I listened on my walk this morning and must say I was a bit
disappointed. It straddled to format of the silver minutes - giving
much longer excerpts - and the television show which incorporated the
performers comments.

For the initiate it was great to hear thos bits - but I don't think it
really sold the show or demonstrated why it has endured. The
participant comments were good but so brief.

The problem is twofold - so much to pick from (the whole of the
parbuckle is so good it felt horribly truncated; and brief snatches
don't give the flow of the game) and so many people who could give
reminiscences - but only a half hour (28 minutes) to do it in.

While I give people copies of silver minutes to sell them on the show,
I wouldn't with this.

But i did laugh!

Jeremy

do you find that works? Anyone here introduced to the show by one of
Jeremy's Silver Minutes copies? :)
