Although to be fair, the moments when Nicholas is being chivalrous
to Aimi usually elicites the best comments from the other panelists,
this is especially true of Kenneth and Peter, who not only send him
up for his unabashed flirtations with Aimi, but outright accuse him
of being in cahoots with her. In one program I think Kenneth made
the comment 'how did she get on the show in the first place',
essentially making a very sly hint that the only reason Aimi was on
the show was because she was either dating the producer or sleeping
with him.
the interruptions that Nick makes often get up my nose, especially
when he interrupts someone in full flow and says that they've
challenged when they clearly haven't. But this tends to have a
double effect, in that its annoying that Nick interrupted someone in
full flow to take the subject from that person and give it someone
else who didn't even challenge, but sometimes the resulting insults
aimed at Nicholas by the other panelists are very often hilarious.
A prime example being an episode that had Paul, Derek, Peter, and
the first appearance by Steve Frost. I think I mentioned it once
before, during a post I made regarding Peter Jones. Derek was
talking on 'Our Feathered Friends', was doing very well, and
Nicholas out of nowhere says 'Peter you challenged'. and there's a
huge pause that soon becomes filled with laughter as Derek and Paul
turn on Nicholas and question just what the hell he thinks he's
doing.
That wouldn't be the first or even the last time Nick would do
something like that, to the extent where he'll say that someone
challenged before they even press their buzzer.
There was one time I think it was Julian Clary's first appearance on
the show, when there is a split second to which Nick opens his mouth
and says that Julian challenged and then a buzz follows just after
he starts to speak, which must mean either he grabbed Julian's
buzzer and pressed it or something, I don't know.
in fact I think Nick has been known to push someone else's buzzer
quite frequently on the television series. another prime example was
when the panel consisted of Derek Nimmo, Nick Revell, Tony Slattery
and John Fortune, and I think it was during the last round. the
subject was 'The Angel', Derek was going very well on it, and then
suddenly 'BUZZ', Derek turns to look at Nicholas and says 'What on
earth did you touch his hand for?!', completely outraged that
Nicholas put his hand on John Fortune's in order to press John
Fortune's buzzer.
Anyone else notice these things or can anyone else give any prime
examples aside from those I"ve listed?
