Topic: Brief But Memorable - Clare Balding

As I continue going through the JAM episodes which lead all the way
up to the current episodes, I find myself going through the episodes
from when JAM was on daytime television for 3 or 4 weeks way back in
1999, during the hiatus of the radio show following the death of
Derek Nimmo.

As I go through the episodes, I figured I ought to talk about a
panelist that I feel falls into the 'Brief But Memorable' category:
Clare Balding.

She made two appearances during the brief run on daytime TV, and I
felt was very funny and pleasant as well as informative, and proved
to be quite adept at playing the game as well as contributing to the
banter amongst panelists.

I don't know much about Clare, but from the little info mentioned
during her appearances, apparently she was a jockey in horse racing,
and is also a horse race commentator.

not sure how she'd do on the radio with people like Paul Merton and
Graham Norton, but what else has Clare done aside from the stuff I
mentioned before?

She once appeared on Have I Got News For You on an episode presented
by Jack Dee in 2003, I thought she was quite good, although she has
never appeared again since. She was on Paul's team and Ian's guest on
that show was none other than Sir Clement Freud.

Perhaps she might get a JAM recall at some point, the new producer
seems to be trying to get a variety of female guests on the show, on
HIGNFY she seemed very witty and got on well with Paul so it is a
possibility perhaps.
