Topic: Michael Palin on JAM

I am currently reading Michael Palin's Python Years Diary book and his
entry(oct 3 1975) about being on JAM-the house was only half full and
michael feeling out of his element. The look Clement first gave him
and "the forbidding authoritative Peter Jones"

I found both of michael's shows on my e-bay 'bootleg'double set
( ok when it comes to some british comedy I have no shame LOL)
He got better near the end of the first( came in 2nd!) one and was
more into it on the second recording.

Anyways - enjoying the book on the whole- gives this american brit fan
some insight to what was going on- not only with michael, the pythons
but british life during those yrs( powercuts/ IRA bombings)-along with
some interesting bits about other british comics. Miriam

I'm surprised that amongst the Python alumni, only Michael Palin was ever given the call to be on Just a Minute.  I think Michael definitely was feeling his way through his first appearance, but started to gain his confidence as the show went on, and was more into it the second time round.

I still hope that other Python alumni will pop up, like John Cleese and Eric Idle.

Oh dear God, not John Cleese. He wasn't any good in the first series
of ISIHAC and was dead for me forever following those ill-advised
Sainsburys adverts. As for Idle, well, maybe. But I'd much prefer
Terry Jones.

John Cleese's comedy has always been based on writing and rewriting and
rewriting and so on - he really is a perfectionist rather than an
improviser.

actually, having listened to the first series of ISIHAC, I thought he was quite good.  and I don't see how you're going to judge someone for doing commercials, if he did informercials that would be something else entirely.
