I agree, we don't need to bother - not yet anyway.

90% of email on the Internet is spam - we still get small fry compared to
that.

If I don't check my email every day it takes AGES, getting on for 100 spams
per day.
Most of them caught by the spam filter, until recently that is.

Those pesky spammers learn what the filters trigger on and work round it.
Filter writers then change the filters to trap it, spammers change spam,
then round
they go again and again and again....

If only recipients would not respond the spammers wouldn't do it but
unfortunately
many people are too stupid or naive to ignore and delete.

A colleague of mine at work is in Internet security and, apparently, people
in the
UK are more likely to respond to spam email than anyone else in, at least
Europe. <sigh>

Rant over, feel better now. Sorry.

Dean - you wouldn't need to moderate every message. Once a user has
made a couple of proper contributions to the group, and has thus
proved themselves to be a genuine person and not a spammer, the
requirement to moderate that user can be lifted. All of that person's
messages then appear on the list immediately without requiring
moderation.

The only time you'd need to moderate would be for a newly-subscribed
user making their first (or maybe second) post to the list.

Just an idea :-)

Tim.

I think I agree with Dean here at the moment. We simply don't get much spam here at the moment - it's not worth it.

Tim I really appreciate your posting the idea - I didn't realise I could
moderate some and not others. Appreciate you adding to my knowledge and
possibly that of others.

At the moment though there doesn't seem to be enough support to do
this - but it's something to keep in mind if the spam problem gets worse.

cheers, Dean
