Well they have re-instated my account (no idea why I lost access
still) but they have lost over half my episodes. I am intending to
upload the series again towards the end of the week - definitely by
the weekend. Sorry for the delay.

glad to see your account is back.
I'm going to ask again about uploading to another site. I'll be glad
to do so, if there's any interest. (no one chimed in the last time I
floated the offer, so perhaps it's not a big deal.)

May I suggest that you upload your files to the home of the Internet Archive
at http://www.archive.org

They are running a well-funded non-commercial project there, to preserve old
time radio shows, and they hold them in their archives permanently. They do
not require you to log in periodically, and they do not delete files just
because they haven't been downloaded for 90 days.

You can create a free account for yourself at
http://www.archive.org/account/login.createaccount.php

The old time radio section is at
http://www.archive.org/details/radioprograms where you click on the "Upload"
button to upload files. Just upload a single small mp3 file first time, to
create the necessary page, then use the "Edit" button on the newly created
page to add further files.

The only restriction is that you can only upload .mp3 files, not .zip
archives containing those files.

One tip. Be sure to select the option "Do not create derivatives" (at the
foot of the Edit / Metadata page) when uploading files or adding file
details, or else the Archive will automatically create derivative (lower
bitrate) files from the files you've uploaded. That makes rather a mess,
confusing anyone who then wants to download your original files.

I would be more than glad of any help - I was remiss in not thanking
you for such a kind offer last time you offered. I will follow a
consensus lead as to where to put them - and if anyone wants to lead
the way as to what they will post - even better!!! Thanks!

This sounds like a very good option - I will look into this. This
might be an excellent option - I wonder if there are any size
restrictions - or what they consider old radio - seeing as my
collection is current?

There are no restrictions. They will host any file that is in mp3 format.

Ok! The first episode is up as a trial. Url is

Let me know what the opinion is. Is this preferred as opposed to
mediafire etc? Can others contribute I wonder and help build the
collection?

i think it's a good idea to have the shows stored on more than one
site---that way if we lose one, there's a back up. If you go with
archive.org, I'll opt for another.

Does anyone have an objection to my using megaupload as an
alternative? Right now non-paying folks can download files up to
500mb, and there isn't a single season of ISIHAC (or JAM for that
matter) of that size!

That looks very cool!
I'll put shows up here before mirroring them anywhere else. Perhaps we
could divide the duties by series...

Would you please tell me how you want things labeled---if we come up
with a standard form now, it'll make things simpler.

Is does look good! There is also an option to add multiple files -
which was a concern of mine at first - i thought it would be one at a
time BUT (and here I hope someone will help me) I don't think I have
created the page correctly - as I dont think I can add to that page
now. It seems I should create a page episode 1 series 1 etc. I was
intending to make a page ISIHAC - which would be a container for all
episodes - but I think it is my account which is the container. Hmmmm!
I am just a little uncertain of how it works exactly at the moment -
and therefore the best 'filing' system to use.

I've looked at your page at
http://www.archive.org/details/ImSorryIHaventAClue

In the "Resources" box, you will see a button marked "Edit Item". Only you
will see this button, because no one else is allowed to edit your page. You
click that button to edit the page, which allows you to either edit the text
description or to add more files.

The first you MUST do is edit the text to add this statement -
This item is part of the collection: Old Time Radio

Edit the Keywords also, so they read as follows -
Old Time Radio; OTR; Comedy; I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue; ISIHAC

Then a moderator will be able to pick up on the fact that this is an old
time radio page, and will make the necessary adjustments. This will take a
couple of days usually.

But meanwhile, you can also use the "Edit Item" button to add more files:
click the "Edit Item" button, then on the page that opens click on the link
marked "Item Manager", then on the next page that opens click on "checkout -
edit item's files (non-XML)". This will open a page with an FTP link on it
(you may have to wait a few seconds for this page to load): click the FTP
link ("Click to open a FTP window in your IE browser") to open an FTP
window, into which you drag a file (or several files) to upload them.

Make sure you only try to upload mp3 files. The file names must use only A
to Z and 1 to 9 and underscore: no spaces! Anything else will cause the FTP
transfer to abort. When you have uploaded all the files you want to, click
the HTML file in the FTP window that is marked "Click here when finished".

Hi
Downloaded the file easily and it plays fine so hoorah it looks as
though we have a new home.
I may be a good idea in the long term to put the files on both sites
so if one falls over there is an alternative

Just a thought but if cymro.gwirion@... has a PayPal account I
for one would be happy to make a contribution to the time and effort
it will take to upload all this again - It's not a payment so I don't
think it will affect any broadcasting / copyright issues - just a
gratia payment for a huge service rendered.

Regards
