I am very saddened to learn of the passing of Humphrey Lyttelton, last
night.
Graeme Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor & Barry Cryer have always made it clear
that they would not carry on with Clue without Humph, so this brings the
show to an end after 35 years. The show would not be the same without him.

Stephen

RIP Humph.
Can I ask a similar question over Mr Parsons?
He’s always said the show would continue and take-on new personalities when members of the panel have passed on.
What will happen with him? Who will replace Nick?

One thing that will be interesting in watching how the Beeb decides
whether Clue will go on is if it gives us an idea of how they will
handle Nick's departure.
I think in the end if Barry, Graeme and Tim want to continue, Clue will
continue.
Similarly I think if Paul is keen to continue on JAM, the show will
continue. He will also have a big say on who should be the chair.
I'd say it would be someone connected with the show - Gyles Brandreth,
Tim Rice, Kit Hesketh-Harvey and Liza Tarbuck come to mind. Maybe Phill
Jupitus.
For Clue on the other hand I rather think it could be someone outside
the current group. Someone with some stature in the comedy/entertainment
world. I was thinking for example of Jeremy Clarkson and June Whitfield
and Bruce Forsyth to throw some names out of nowhere in particular.

cruel and heartless, but there's no way any broadcaster would let a
show as popular as ISIHAC end this abruptly. It's too important a
commodity.
I agree with Dean ...if Barry, Graeme and Tim want to continue, the
show will go on....with a new chairman. And this new chairman will NOT
be doing the same job that Humph did for 50+ series----this chair will
have a different "character" scripted for him/her, just as writers
scripted the "Chairman" character that Humph embodied.

these are all good comments - I agree with the need not to be a clone.
And yes Julian would be a great choice for either show. I could hear him
being very funny on JAM in that role.
One thing - Sandi Toksvig is already chairing News Quiz so i don't see
her getting the same gig on another Radio Four comedy panel game.

I think the best thing to do would be to end Clue now. Just ain’t Clue without Humph.
And yes, I’ve just bought a copy of “It Just Occurred To Me… - the reminiscences & thoughts of Chairman Humph”, a great read full of the humour and pathos that Humph had.
