Just got word that this has been dispatched today as well. Again, a
week earlier than I expected, but that's hardly a complaint.

Hopefully they'll both be here for the weekend, it's been a tough week
and I'm really looking forward to hearing both of these.

Sorry to hear it's been a tough week - hope it's something that can be
shrugged off. If it's more serious, well, you're in our thoughts.

Let us know when you receive it, would love to hear which shows have
been picked and a bit of what Paul has to say. I am definitely buying
but will wiat till I can get three or four things in one posting.

Thanks. Thankfully it's nothing tragic, just fairly stressful.
Luckily, help is at hand, as both CDs arrived this morning; I haven't
listed to them yet, but I'll take time to digest and enjoy them over
the weekend and post something on Sunday.

If anyone was wondering which particular shows are included (as I
didn't know which specific ones were included until now), the back
cover lists the following episodes:

27 April 1977
6 March 1982
11 April 1983
20 July 1998

The bottom paragraph is also interesting:

"Each episode is preceded by extracts from a fascinating conversation
between Nicholas Parsons and Paul Merton, in which they
good-humouredly reflect upon the enormous appeal of the game, the
various techniques for playing it, the numerous guest players who have
taken part over the years, and their favourite moments in these
particular instalments."

The back cover of the Clue CD doesn't tell us much we don't already
know, except that the two recordings are from 14 May 1995 and 12 May
1996, both at the Theatre Royal in Brighton, and again feature
introductions from Jon Naismith. No guest panellists this time, just
the four regulars. Humph is also referred to as "the late, great
Humphrey Lyttelton", which is a nice touch. The usual programme
description on the interior sleeve also now concludes with a new
paragraph: "Humphrey Lyttelton, broadcaster, musician, presenter and
master of the innuendo, died on 25 April 2008".

Very much looking forward to hearing these. I'll probably listen to
one sometime today, and the other on the Sunday afternoon.

My sleuthing about the shows involved proved to be correct! The
panellists for each show are

27 April 1977 - Sir Clement Freud, Kenneth Williams, Peter Jones and
Derek Nimmo
6 March 1982 - Clement, Kenneth, Barry Cryer and Libby Purves
11 April 1983 - Clement, Kenneth, Peter and Miles Kington
20 July 1998 - Clement, Peter, Paul Merton and Maureen Lipman

Ian Messiter finishes the last round in the first show - the only time
that happened.

The last show was the second ever JAM I collected - I now have more than
700... and it is a funny show.

I'm looking forward to hearing all these and of course Paul's
commentaries.

I got mine ( along with Clue Live 2 ) yesterday- finally had the chance
to listen to the first show for the JAM disk--- Very ( but happlily)
surprised that the Nicholas/Paul intro was as long as it was- Loved it!
and although I probably have that show I had never heard that episode
before.
With any luck the Paul Merton in China dvd should show up any day
now-they said it was dispatched- at Last!
( I preordered this in December!) and I can feast on the British
comedies. Thank you Amazon UK ( now if Only the Dollar would quit
dropping in value- this stuff is getting expensive!) Miriam

You mean you haven't listened to all your shows? Shall we boot her out
of the group, folks? ;-)

Seriously, thanks for the review Miriam, my CD is still somewhere
between Heathrow and Wellington.... but I can't wait!

-LOL- I am trying to Savor it-that's all- I already have one of those
2 GB mp3 players Filled with JAMs that I take to work- so in a normal
workweek I may listen up to 12 JAMs ( from
the early days to current)- at work/riding the bus to work.
I am currently loading a second one with Clues/ and ISIRTA's. My
coworkers are used to me LOL at my British comedy while I am working.
So does all this qualify me as a JAM/British comedy addict and
worthy of this group? :) Miriam
