The New Breed of JAM Performers - Jenny Eclair

After quite a while, I continue my discussion of the New Breed of
JAM performers, which brings us to the newest breed of female
performers. At the top of the list has to be the lovely and talented
Jenny Eclair.

I love Jenny Eclair because she is very much like Britain's
equivalent to Joan Rivers, because both ladies have a penchant for
gossip and taking the mickey out of women who indulge in plastic
surgery, usually pointing the finger at themselves very often, and
both have very enchantingly raspy voices.

I love the intensity with which Jenny competes in the program,
struggling, and fighting against all and sundry to get the subject,
even though half the time her challenges are wrong. I love the
desperation in her voice, especially when she slips up and is
practically on her hands and knees begging and pleading to have
another chance, especially when its a subject she really wants to
talk about and within the first few moments she loses all grasp of
the English language.

I remember a few times she'll just break through the basic notions
of the rules of the game just to do something that is EXTREMELY
visual for the audience in attendance, which usually has to prompt
Nicholas to pull her back and remind her that what she's doing isn't
very good radio (which very often causes me to roll my eyes in
annoyance). For example, there was one show when she was talking
about a new pair of boots that she had just bought, which she
happened to have on at the time, and wanted to show them to people,
and actually got up on the table to show off her boots.

Jenny's style of humor when she has the subject can also range into
being very bawdy and outrageous, which I absolutely love.

I remember she was actually in the audience during the 35th
anniversary episode and set up the subject of 'Speaking in Tongues'
for Graham, and was amongst the first to set off the discussion that
would crop up throughout the rest of the show about Graham's shirt.

I'm glad that she still pops up on the show now and then, and long
may she continue.

I don't know what else she does aside from Just a Minute and being a
stand up comedienne. Anyone wish to share their thoughts on this
talented woman?
