Joan Turner, who appeared on JAM once in 1970, has died at the age of 86.

She had an interesting life. The obituary from the Guardian is here,
http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2009/mar/04/joan-turner-obituary
and the Wikipedia entry is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Turner

I've always thought her laugh possibly the best and heartiest ever heard
on the show. Memorable for that reason!

I remember listening to the episode once a long time ago and thinking it wasn't too good, but then a few years later I listened to it again and found that it contained some hilarious moments.

Was it Joan Turner or Joan Bakewell who challenged Kenneth Williams by saying, "He's too loud!" in a lovely plummy voice?

Definitely Joan Bakewell.  I remember that episode, and the smile on my face hearing her, especially hearing that challenge.
