More good news guys. Here are the remaining "lost" episodes of JAM
that Martin has so graciously allowed me to download in order to share
with you all. Sadly, these are the last remaining "lost" programs to
be shared for a while -- at least until ABC Radio National starts
airing Series 13 in about 11 weeks or so (assuming it continues in
chronological order).

Here are the details of this new batch of episodes. Enjoy!

Well, no one on the Master JAM list is in possession of that
particular episode (#383 for those keeping score). I daresay that Dean
himself may be the only one to have a copy -- of course I am assuming
this, as he has transcribed the episode in question on his site. I too
would love to hear Kenneth's last recorded program.

I'd like to add my thanks also, especially for those last 5 episodes
none of which I had previously heard. A real result!. My collection
of episodes is now well over the 610 mark (though many are of a
recording quality I wish to improve upon).

I would like to point out that on the links for download page the
series starting with the part recording of #310 is actually part of
#302-16-1 "The Best Way To Lie" and as far as I can tell the actual
#310 is still one of the missing.

This sort of thing occurs regularly, and with the help of Dean's
invaluable site it may be that some of the missing are floating
around, at least in part, and can yet be identified.

I realize that I made an error regarding #310 being #302 in actuality,
I'll end up correcting that at some point -- I'll probably reupload
the series without #310 and call it "almost" complete. I've seen that
particular episode having at least 2 other different episode numbers,
neither being correct of course. The same with a few other incomplete
editions, different episode numbers being bandied about. Thank the
lord for Dean's website! :)

Thanks for the accolades. I'm only too happy to help out and supply
episodes to such a keen and enthusiastic group of people. It's easy
to do so when the recordings are already in digital form and much
harder and more time consuming (as Dean knows) when they are on tape.

The real credit for this set of episodes should go to Dean as it was
he supplied these programs to me in the first place and I just
encoded them. The [DB] at the end of the filename (and in the ID3
tag) is the secret code as to the source. Take a bow Dean.

Emile and Chris are also doing a fantastic job uploading all the
episodes and making them widely available for download by all group
members and Sarah's work on the list available episodes must surely
rival War and Peace for the amount of effort involved!

Hopefully other group members will be able to contribute further new
episodes to the group collection or provide quality upgrades or
complete copies where particular episodes are incomplete.

Personally I've found the discussion in the group invaluable and it
has highlighted a few instances where I had miscatalogued episodes
so I now have a less complete (though more accurate) collection than
before the advent of this group.

Martin, after downloading them from you, I re-encoded them once more
to get the file size down to a manageable amount (especially when it
comes time to making series collections, given the 100MB upload limit
of MediaFire). But Dean definitely deserves the credit for these
"missing" gems which you have so kindly allowed access to.

My audio editing program (Adobe Audition) can save MP3 files at
different bitrates. I convert all mine to 32kbit mono MP3 files, which
end up being roughly 6-7MB per file. I'm pretty sure most audio
editing programs will do the same. When you go to save a file in MP3
format, check to see if there is an "Options" button or something to
that effect. That is where you can change the bitrate of the file, so
you don't end up with huge file sizes.

my numbers are just my numbers of course - but I was the first to list
all the shows in date order.

When I saw the "real" tapes from the BBC at Radio New Zealand (that's
where I work if anyone is confused) they actually all have "official"
slightly smaller numbers - which is why I think those first few early
shows we don't have are probably no longer in existence.
