In my opinion, Stephen Fry would be a better choice than Jack Dee.

I can understand why Stephen would not want to do the stage tour, because he
has so many commitments in broadcasting, both for BBC and ITV, that he just
hasn't got the time to tour. Jack doesn't have the public recognition of
Stephen, who has had a high profile in show business for twenty five years.

Though I, personally, was in favour of someone with the stature of Denis
Norden taking the chairman's role.

I agree with all of this! :-)

I really enjoyed the recording I saw with Jack Dee, although obviously his style seems closer to Humph's out of the three presenters.

Clearly it won't ever be the same, and probably not ever quite as good, but (to me at least) there was more than enough entertainment there to make it worth continuing in some form.

I am looking forward to the return of Clue although JAM is my overall favorite panel show. But I do have rather a soft spot for Tim Brooke-Taylor LOL. Miriam

I think Tim is my favourite too, though I do have a soft spot for Barry

K.J the 3 clue recordings were in london southampton and newcastle so i don;t think they were too london-centric . they only have 6 recording dates a year . check out the upcoming tour though the dates are a lot more spread out .

i was lucky enough to have got a ticket for the last of the 3 recordings presented by rob brydon . it was brillaint. i laughed until my belly hurt . the format is bascially the same as always but there was enough of a difference to keep it interesting .

of all the presenters i am not sure about jack dee though . i never much cared for him . a friend of mine was at his recording and said he was very very nervous . i hope that will be sorted a bit when the producer sits down to do the edit . he is doing the tour and therefore must be the most likely to take the chair permantently . i wonder is he almost too humph like but will reserve judgement until i hear his show . i know stphen fry has heaps of commitments from reading his twitter page and rob brydon is on tour this autumn . it is a pity in a way .

tim brooke taylor is a really nice guy. 10 of us from the same goodies message board went to the newcastle recording ( it was'nt planned that way it was the only show we could all get tickets for !) . after the show we all went to the stage door . when everyone came out a very pushy lady form the theatre was there trying to get the perfomers into nearby taxis .all of them stayed for as long as they could and were really nice but the lady was geting rather forceful . tim stayed the longest talking to all of us and was happy to pose for phoots too ( proofs on my facbook page in the photo file the saucy gibbon get together !)

cheers
Linda

Why is it so many postings about this (imo totally uninteresting) show in this "Just a minute"-group? Are there no groups for this show? And if not - why not create one?

In my opinion posts like these should be considered spam and erased by moderators, just like any other irrelevant post.

Spam?????? Honestly???

The thing is - as you said - "IMO" - and there's the crux of it. Clue might not be to your taste - but it is obviously a popular show amongst many here - so it is of interest to the members. The shows never coincide - so during the downtime in JAM - discussing News Quiz, Clue etc keeps the group alive and popular. I read the posts daily - and I am sure that many here would only visit during JAM season and not throughout the year. I suppose I would say this - I am a big clue fan - but hey Dean's the boss - and I don't think he has a problem - so I hope we can keep on discussing shows in the same vein as JAM. Anway - IMO

P.S.
SPAM???????? Really???? SPAM?????

At the moment, I take a broad view of what is on topic, and that
includes other BBC comedy panel games and any thing connected with JAM
people. The links section is proof that many of our members also like
ISIHAC and other shows.

Personally I think that's clear enough and people seem to be respecting
that. We haven't got into religion or politics or abortion or 9-11
conspiracy theories and I hope we don't!

But if there is widespread agreement with this poster that we should be
narrower on relevance, then I'd have to think about what we should do.

Perhaps just to clarify the extent of the moderation - new members are
moderated until their first post as a spam protection measure. If their
first post is relevant, they get unmoderated. If its spam, they get
banned. I would be very reluctant to moderate all posts for obvious
reasons.

That's just as you say - your opinion.

But a lot of people here love Clue like they do Just A Minute but don't have the time to commit to other Groups. On top of that, Clue spoofs JAM with the musical round Just A Minim, which made a welcome return with the show last Monday after a three-year absence (with Jeremy Hardy "singing" This Ol' House without hesitation, repetition or worst of all deviation... although what deviation can be worse than the piano playing of Colin Sell? I laughed my crabs off for a week after that particular playing!)

I agree with cymro, that discussion of other JAM-related shows such as Clue, The News Quiz and Whose Line is it Anyway? (for which Dean wrote a respectable guide - until it transferred to the Wiki and I rewrote every word of his! :o) j/k) keep this place from going under due to the Yahoo! Groups Moderator sharks in these infested seas...

I for one appreciate that other panel shows like Clue can be linked/discussed here ( within reason of course)

From what I can tell from the links and posts that there is enough Crossover audience here to allow that. Not to mention the Crossovers of many the panelist on JAM/clue that have taken place over the many yrs.

I think Dean has done a great job keeping this place friendly, interesting, and most of all Informative. Miriam

Surely it's clear enough from the subject line whether the subject is JAM or
OT (off-topic). Those who dislike Clue (or any other OT subject) can surely
just delete the e-mail unread?
