I rather enjoy Wendy's presence on the show for the very reasons you've stated Dean.  Although, to be fair, I will say that very often things tended to drift back to her talking about her pet cockateel Henry or her dog Shirley Brahms.  still, I got a real kick out of her because she provided something that is sorely missing from the program nowadays.

I can understand why she was dropped as a regular in the end, because she is sort of a one-note player which might have got a bit, well, repetitious. And they needed to find room for the newer voices like Tony Hawks, Graham Norton, Kit Hesketh-Harvey, et al.

But I do feel a bit positive towards her. There's a sense of drama in her shows - you wonder how mad she will get and what wil happen next. The only other person who really provides that is Kenneth. And the shows she was on in the early 90s were usually better than other shows in the same period. In the period before Paul Merton really hits his straps she provides a real energy to the show which wasn't coming from anyone else. Imagine if instead of making her a regular, they'd promoted say Tim Rice or Lance Percival or even Richard Murdoch (if he hadn't died anyway). The programme would have sounded very sleepy. Even when she was dumped, you could sort of argue she was providing more spark than Clement, Derek and Peter - but of course they could not have dumped one of them.

So I don't rate her as a favourite - but she made an important contribution in those early 90s when the show came close ro being shelved. I like her.
