Dean, although I’m happy with most of your comments re Monday’s broadcast, I cannot agree with your assertion that, “Sue Perkins was a star”.  Sue Perkins will never be a star, at least not in comedy.

Her persona, being much too sour and spiteful for most people, prevents her from rising above the mediocrity achieved by most comedians.  The defining statistics for me are the number of laughs she gets versus the number of laughs she doesn’t get.  Unfortunately, for her there are too many of the latter, which probably results in her then trying “too” hard, which of course exacerbates the problem.

Although I’ve been less than appreciative of her efforts for some time, the final straw came on Monday with the athletes/personalit y jibe.  What an unfunny generalization that was, at least for most of the audience.

It was as worthy as saying that all lesbians from East Dulwich are, dried-up, sour-faced bitches.
