good call, the thing with two lights coming on at the same time or a light has come on with no buzzer, or a buzzer comes on with no light. Those are great instances that do happen occasionally, but again are instances when Nick says 'its never happened before'. There was one particular reversal of this instance where he states in one episode from either the late 90's or early part of the year 2000 or possibly 2001, I'm not sure, that Graham Norton has been in the lead and has won on a few occasions, when Graham counters by saying 'I've never been in the lead nor have I ever won a game'. I would think Graham would be a better judge of those instances to be honest. :) --- On Thu, 2/18/10, delmelza <delmelza@...> wrote:

Fair enough. There was one particular instance where I believe the panelists were Clement Freud, Tony Hawks, Jeremy Hardy and Sue Perkins, and that was one of my favorite shows where essentially Sue, Jeremy and Tony managed to go three consecutive rounds by going the full 60 seconds, and Nicholas enthusiastically proclaimed that not only was it something that had never happened before, but that they were making history as well. That was definitely one of my favorite instances, because it was absolutely true and I was absolutely delighted. in all the years the show has been on the air, there has never been an instance where there have been four consecutive rounds where a panelist was able to go the full 60 seconds. I am eagerly awaiting that moment, although its very unlikely to happen in the near future. But, one lives in hope. :) --- On Thu, 2/18/10, deanbedford <dbedford@...> wrote:

As it happens, I've just recently listened to Tim Rice's first appearance on
"Just a Minute", going back to 1980. He appeared alongside Kenneth, Derek, and
Peter, and at the end of the half hour all four panellists had the same number
of points (Peter thanks in part to incessant interruptions by Kenneth during a
round on carrier bags which led Nicholas to, to borrow Dean's description from
the transcript, shout at him in a voice louder than he has ever used on "Just a
Minute" before or since). Nicholas claimed at the end that it was the first time
all four panellists had finished equal at the end. I haven't checked to see if
it truly was the first time the game finished in a four-way draw, although I
wonder how many times it has
happened?

Well, that episode in particular (one of my personal favorites) certainly marked the only time all the panelists finished equally. Although what passes for finishing equally nowadays is very suspect, since he'll say that someone is in fourth place even though two people managed to finish equally in second place or there are two equal people in first place or some other such nonsense.--- On Fri, 2/19/10, dombell79 <dombell79@...> wrote: |
