I know many of you will already have these shows... but for those who haven't yet seen the Tony Slattery TV version of the show, I've posted some links to very good quality versions that have appeared on YouTube...

Thanks Dean- I have seen a couple-it doesn't really work as a tv show
( and to me they didn't try very hard )
but I do enjoy tony slattery-I will try to catch a few more.

Not to mention the wonderful Jim Sweeney appeared in quite a few of them. And Arthur Smith too.

Definitely worth a look, although to my mind at least it is inferior to the radio show. I'm not sure why though, as there was nothing specifically bad about the few changes they made, such as the random object.

Could it just be that they didn't have the regulars of that time on, so it was a weaker panel as a foursome? Perhaps.

Thanks for the heads up though Dean, I shall enjoy watching the rest of them this weekend.

Here is my link to most of the BBC TV series from 1999 that I posted on mediafire some months ago for those of you who haven't seen them and want to!

I definitely think the lack of experience of most of the panels shone through. The show works when the banter between people who really know each other is best, I think.

Just a Minute on TV is more of an acquired taste. it works when there is a mixture of established and experienced panelists as well as fresh faces who can interact well with each other, and when this did happen, it works, but when a majority of panelists are fresh faces, what you end up with are a bunch of people challenging very often for very fatuous reasons on minute hesitations that not only disrupt a person's flow, but ruins the comedy for one and all.  plus also you end up with a bunch of people that are complete and utter crap at sticking to the rules, and nine times out of ten have nothing of any particular interest to say on a subject they're given.

some of the stuff from when the show was on TV in the mid 90's was pretty cool thanks largely to the established presence of Tony Slattery (who is always funny and inventive).  A majority of the shows from the daytime TV version in 1999 was also pretty cool, but some occasions either tended to be utterly boring or just descended into outright anarchy and pettiness.  Sometimes its funny when things descend into anarchy, but the two occasions I'm thinking of involved the two shows where the panelists were Barry Cryer, Su Pollard, John Sergeant and Brian Sewell.  Things descended into such anarchy that it just took away from the overall enjoyment.  Much as I enjoyed the panelists individual contributions, it was very hard to actually like absolutely everything that went on during both shows.
