Sad death of Ray Alan

The sad loss of Ray Alan (and, by extension, Lord Charles) is a terribly
upsetting event.

I actually had the good fortune to see him live on stage, at the
Wolverhampton Grand, in 2001, where he appeared on the same bill as Jim
Casey & Eli Woods. One of his extras in the show was to play the "third man"
in their 'Animals in the Box' sketch, which Jim & Eli originally did in
Variety (as part of Jimmy James & Co) in the Fifties.

They were under-rehearsed for the Box sketch (a special trick Jim & Eli use,
in order to ad lib around any mistakes made by the guest) and it was
hilarious.

Ray also did his Lord Charles routine (with Lord Charles inevitably
appearing in a 'tipsy' state) and brought the house down. He was supposedly
just taking a break from show business, since 2008. I don't think anyone
realised the significance of that.

Apart from Patrick Moore, really my favourite of the male guests in
Seventies 'JAM' (i.e. beyond the regular foursome).

A sad, sad day.

I am very sad to see that ventriloquist Ray Alan has died... He appeared in
several JAM's in the 1970's... further details attached...
