This month it is 10 years since the sad death of this very funny man.

I've been listening to many of the older shows in the past few days and it confirms my view that the greatest panellists in the show have been Kenneth Williams and Paul Merton. But in third slot, I believe, is Peter Jones.

He's just such a funny man, not taking himself or the show too seriously, managing to get some fun into just about everything he says.

A great wit and raconteur, and dare I say it, a bit of a leader on the show.

And he's been gone for 10 years this month. Very sad.

I agree Dean. I too seemed to be listening to several episodes with Peter Jones recently. I love when he is impatient epecically with Nicholas. Clement or Derek would often buzz Peter on "well' which he used often when he started a subject.

Am I the only one who thinks Peter Jones as he aged sounded a lot like "mr granger" from Are you Being Served?

It would be an intereting idea is that the BBC would do a "classic" JAM cd release featuring each of the four regular panelist- like a Best of Peter jones/ best of clement/etc.

Ten years?  wow!  i often listen to my JAM collection in order to listen to those wonderful moments generated by those panelists no longer on this planet, and the one that I always enjoy listening to is always Peter Jones.

its just a shame that there hasn't been anyone to take up the mantle he established as resident 'piss taker'.  Linda Smith did that to great effect all the way up till her unexpected and untimely death, and since then there hasn't been anyone on the show that takes the piss out of the program the way Peter and Linda used to do.
