Just A Minute

Someone else to consider as being brief but memorable on JAM is Su Pollard. She made three appearances on both versions of the televised version of the show, and she certainly made an impression.   She may have had some trouble keeping going and keeping the subject, but she was far from boring.  The way she would sulk, cry, and throw tantrums when she didnt get her way made me feel like she was the spiritual lovechild of Kenneth Williams or perhaps was Kenneth Williams reincarnated.   I loved Su Pollard because she brought much needed fire and drama and always had the audience on her side. 

 

Its a shame that she didnt appear alongside more seasoned veterans. The only veteran on the panel during her final appearances on ITV was Barry Cryer.  Thr other two were first timers John Sergeant and Brian Sewell.  Although individually these panelists had some good moments, collectively both shows with these panelists were a complete ferago.  It essentially represented JAM at its absolute worst.  Endless trivial challenges, pointless interruptions, and Nicholas behaving like a complete and utter wally in his vain and rather hopeless attempts to keep order. 

 

it would've been awesome if Su appeared on the radio version, I'd love to hear how she'd fair against the likes of Paul, Graham, Tony Hawks, and others.  Imagine putting her and Jenny Eclair on the same program, they'd claw each other's eyes out.  ;)
