I have always found this issue to be terribly confusing. It has been rather consistent that a person can make a statement of some type that makes it sound like the subject on the card, they arent done in for deviation. However what i find thoroughly annoying i when they are instead done in for repetition. Case in point: the subject was `mumbo jumbo`, Ross Noble spoke about a family of elephants called The BoJumbo`s. He mentioned Mum bo Jumbo, Dad BoJumbo and i think Bro BoJumbo and Sis BoJumbo and was challenged repeating Bo Jumbo. It was a repetition of 'Bo', but not of Jumbo because Jumbo was on the card. Another example is on the subject of `Catherine Cookson`. Tony Hawks had this subject, and talked about a woman he knew named Catherine who was a marvelous cook, and whenever she's in the kitchen, Catherine cooks on and on. and he gets done in for repetition of 'on' even though he said Catherine Cookson and on. and more recently on the subject of Timbuktu, Marcus Brigstocke talked about someone he knew named Tim Buck, who was a friend in school, and if he were to go with some of his friends they would say bring Tim Buck too, which sounds like Timbuktu, but he gets challenged for repetition of Tim Buck. I find this most disheartening because it goes against what is established regarding this being 'sound radio'. because if they make something sound like the subject, how are they then gonna be challenged for repetition if they say part of the subject and then the subject in full? they may use it in a different manner, like they're splitting the word up, but that's only if its written down, not when its being spoken. surely if this sort of thing were attempted during the days of the Original Foursome, it might be considered clever, maybe even worthy of a bonus point, but not these days. And it really irks me that this should be the case.
