Topic: Brief But Memorable - Miriam Margolyes

Miriam Margolyes was definitely someone that deserved more than one appearance on the program. She fit the mold of the show with a great spirit of fun, which was definitely needed given the chaos that seemed to be prevalent. She was unafraid of Kenneth`s chauvinistic abuse and stood her ground very well. She contributed a great deal, and she was one of the first females to turn the tables on the chairman by not waiting for him to begin the implied flirtations. She did this well with her occasional well timed proclamations of `You didnt say that last night`. In spite of some ill advised, irritatingly unfunny and cringe inducing moments by Nicholas, the episode overall is one of my favorites largely because of Miriam`s presence. She certainly was the first plus sized actress to appear on the show, long before Liza Tarbuck. I know she has since popped up in one of the Harry Potter films but im not sure what else she`s done.
Anyone else care too comment.

I think she's been on Broadway fairly recently but is now back in the West End (of London) in a Samuel Beckett play.

She's a belter of an actress - and absolutely unique. A sort of female Brian Blessed.

Cheers

She is probably best known for bits in Blackadder-the Infanta in the first series and Queen Victoria in Blackadder's Christmas Carol. She is also the voice of the Caramel Bunny. She has done hundreds of radio series apparently, due to her ability with voices.
