...there's actually quite a bit to see in Manchester if you want to make it a proper day-trip. The theatre is west of Manchester in an area called Salford Quays. In the immediate vicinity is the Imperial War Museum and the Lowry Theatre itself has a collection of LS Lowry's paintings which are worth a look. And not too far away is Manchester United's stadium where you can book a tour.

End of the annoucement from the North West Tourist Board. ;-)

In the spirit of full disclosure, the author attended university in Manchester.
