A couple of emails you were prepared to do anything - now you seem to be giving up.

Ring the theatre. Ring the organisers. Ask them. You don't know till you ask...

sorry but over 500 pounds is too much even for this JAM fan

This is an Radio Industry Conferrance- I am not in Media at all
I don't see anything on their websites about Indivual events being open to the public. Even checked their link about Free memberships-you need to be somehow Media related ( I am a cook by the way)

Now if I get something from the JAM Ticket list people that is distrubing the usual Free tickets than I would gladly give up one of my precious days in London for it.

I still have 2 nights the comedy store with paul merton and a favorite actor Robert Lindsay is doing a play so I will be well entertained.
Not to mention all the book/dvd/cd shopping :)
and yes Nicholas' new book is at the top of my list

It's up to you of course but I would still ring and see if it's possible to get tickets to the one event. The $500 ticket is obviously for the entire three day festival. Fair enough if you don't want to, but I repeat, you don't know till you ask...

I couldn't agree more. At the very least keep an eye on the BBC Tickets website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/shows/tickets/radio or sign up for their newsletter) and the theatre's website (http://www.thelowry.com/).

The Lowry is a large theatre - one auditorium is 1,700+ seats and the smaller one 466 seats plus a 180-seat "studio space. There's at least a fair chance that they may have spare seats for the JaM show, especially if it's in the larger theatre.

Good luck!
